Restoring Cloudy Headlight Lenses on a 2005 Sierra telegra.ph
This is where the magic happens. Start with the coarsest grit sandpaper provided (usually 400-600 grit). Dip the sandpaper in your soapy water solution and begin sanding the lens in a consistent back-and-forth or circular motion, keeping the surface wet at all times. You'll immediately notice a white slurry forming—this is the degraded clear coat being removed. Continue until all yellowing and haze are gone and the surface appears uniformly dull and scratched. This is normal and expected. Rinse the lens and repeat the process with progressively finer grits (800, then 1500, then 3000). Each grit removes the scratches from the previous step, gradually smoothing the surface. Between each grit change, rinse thoroughly and inspect your work. Patience here is essential—rushing or skipping grits will leave visible scratches in the final result.
