Troubleshooting Common Jeep LED Lighting Issues morsunled.wordpress.com
A common, seemingly simple fix for all these issues is to wire load resistors (also called dummy loads) in parallel with the LED. These resistors get hot—very hot—by dissipating the extra power the Jeep automotive expects to see, thereby tricking the system. While effective, they are generally considered the least desirable solution. They create significant heat, requiring careful mounting away from plastic wiring and flammable materials, they negate the LED’s energy efficiency by drawing more total current, and they can fail prematurely due to thermal stress. They should be viewed as a last resort for circuits where a dedicated decoder or programming option isn’t available.
