Upgrading the 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 Cargo Light to LED atoallinks.com
Start by opening the rear passenger door and looking up at the headliner near the back of the cab. The cargo light assembly is integrated into the high-mount stop light housing. Carefully pry off the plastic lens cover using your trim tool, working from the edges. The factory incandescent bulb will be visible inside its socket. It may be hot if recently used, so allow time to cool or wear gloves. Pull the old bulb straight out—it may require gentle rocking. Before inserting the new LED, check the socket for corrosion or melted plastic, which can occur with overheated stock bulbs. Clean the socket with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.
